Fire Safety Drill Strengthens Workplace Safety Amid Summer Heat
Fire Safety Drill Strengthens Workplace Safety Amid Summer Heat
As temperatures continue to rise, prolonged hot weather has brought greater fire safety challenges to industrial facilities. To further strengthen workplace safety management, enhance employees' fire prevention awareness, and improve emergency response capabilities, Jiangsu Yikong Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. organized a comprehensive fire safety training and emergency drill for all on-duty employees on August 1. Combining theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and emergency evacuation exercises, the event reinforced the company's commitment to maintaining a safe production environment during the summer season.

Identifying Fire Hazards Before They Become Risks
The event began with a fire hazard identification session led by the company's Safety Management Department. Focusing on common risks associated with high-temperature conditions—including overheated electrical equipment, improper storage of hazardous materials, and accumulated production waste—the instructor guided employees through workshops, warehouses, and electrical distribution rooms to identify potential safety hazards on site.
Participants inspected aging electrical wiring, blocked emergency exits, expired fire extinguishers, and other common fire risks. This immersive inspection helped employees better understand the fire prevention priorities of their respective work areas while reinforcing the principle that "every hidden hazard has the potential to become an accident."
Emergency Evacuation: Turning Procedures into Instinct
The emergency evacuation drill officially began with the sound of the fire alarm. The scenario simulated a fire caused by an electrical short circuit in the production workshop, with smoke rapidly spreading throughout the area.
Employees from all departments responded immediately, covering their noses and mouths with towels, keeping a low posture, and evacuating along the designated emergency routes to the assembly point in an orderly manner. The evacuation was completed quickly, calmly, and efficiently, followed by personnel accountability to ensure everyone had safely exited the building.
After the drill, safety supervisors reviewed the evacuation process and corrected several issues, including improper evacuation posture and delayed personnel reporting, helping ensure that every detail meets the requirements of a real emergency.
Hands-On Firefighting Practice
During the practical firefighting session, safety specialists demonstrated the proper use of dry chemical and carbon dioxide (CO₂) fire extinguishers, explaining their applications and correct operating procedures.
A controlled fire simulation was then conducted, allowing newly hired employees and personnel from key positions to extinguish live flames using portable fire extinguishers. Through repeated practice, participants gradually gained confidence and transformed theoretical knowledge into practical firefighting skills.
Employees also received hands-on training in quickly deploying and connecting fire hoses and learned the correct procedures for using indoor fire hydrants to control fires at their early stages.
Building a Stronger Safety Culture
This fire safety training and emergency drill not only served as a proactive response to the challenges posed by extreme summer temperatures but also provided a comprehensive assessment of the company's emergency response system.
Moving forward, Jiangsu Yikong Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. will continue strengthening its fire safety management system by improving fire prevention capabilities, increasing inspection frequency during periods of extreme heat, identifying potential risks in advance, and maintaining thorough emergency preparedness. The company remains committed to safeguarding workplace safety and providing a secure foundation for achieving its annual operational objectives.
